Boston Bruins History And Tickets

Founded in 1924, the Boston Bruins have been making history on the ice that few teams can compare to. As members of the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL), the Boston Bruins were the first team to enter the league in the United States expansion. As one of the original six teams, they were joined by the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs. Only one team holds more Stanley Cup awards than the Boston Bruins who have five; the Detroit Red Wings, who have 11.

The Boston Bruins got their start when Charles Adams, grocery tycoon, persuaded the NHL to let him start the first U.S. team on November 1, 124. Art Ross came up with the name for the team when directed by Adams to come up with a nickname that would make people think about the speed, agility and cunning of an untamed animal. Ross chose “Bruins” which is a word that was used to mean brown bears. Their first season,

Remembering Tiger Stadium

Tiger Stadium History is much more than just names and dates. It’s all about the feeling of this great old ballpark…it’s all about the experience of Detroit and its beloved Tigers… sure, we could do the name and date thing, but let’s focus on what that old ballpark was REALLY like- its atmosphere and feeling…

They played baseball at The Corner of Michigan and Trumbull, smack in the middle of Corktown, an old Irish community, for over 100 years and it all began in 1895 when George VanderBeck built a wooden park on that famous corner..home plate was where right field eventually was… named after Detroit’s most popular player, a catcher named Charlie Bennett… it seated 5,000 when it opened and it was gradually expanded to over 14,000 by the time it was replaced.

The Tigers enjoyed a lot of success at old Bennett Park… charter members of the American League in 1901… the arrival of Ty Cobb in 1905… the big run of pennant

Strange Trades In The World Of Sports

Just when you think the sports world has produced every possible bizarre trade imaginable, they still manage to top themselves …

A broadcaster for a rabbit. And a cartoon rabbit, at that.

When baseball journeyman Harry Chiti got dealt to the New York Mets for a player to be named later, little did he know that player would be him. The Chicago Cubs could spare a backup catcher during the early season, and apparently, the Mets saw enough of Chiti afterward. So, when they later gave a list of players from which to choose in order to complete the deal, Chiti’s name was there. Perhaps their choice said something about the other players, but there can be no doubt that the Cubs got equal value in return.

At least that transaction was a player-only deal, albeit only one player.

Transactions involving no players have had various impacts on the teams involved. An obvious example was a swap between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland

Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox are a Major League Baseball franchise. They are competing in the Eastern Division of the American League. Opened on April 20, 1912, their home stadium, Fenway Park, is the oldest major league ballpark still in operation.. The Red Sox has the honor of winning the first World Series as the Boston Americans in 1903 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. After an 86-year interval, they were able to record their most recent World Series championship win in 2004.

The Red Sox’s chief rival is the New York Yankees (http://www.ticketnest.com/sports-tickets/New-York-Yankees/index.php ). The two clubs “enjoy” one of the longest-standing rivalries in North American sports.

The minor Western League declared its equality with the National League under Ban Johnson in 1900. It was the only major league then. The name of the league was changed to the American League by Johnson. Initially the team was competing in the streets. However,

The 2010 MLB betting season will officially open Sunday Night with an ESPN match-up of long time traditional rivals as the defending World Series Champion New York Yankees travel to Fenway Park to take on the Boston Red Sox, who were a wild card playoff team last year. The game is scheduled for a starting time of 8:10pm EST with online sportsbooks favoring the Red Sox -115 at home over the Yankees with an over/under total of 9 in MLB odds. The Yankees will send ace left hander CC Sabathia to the hill as their starter as he will be opposed by Boston right hander Josh Beckett. This will be Sabathia’s seventh career opening day start as the Yankees embark on a title defense of their 27th Championship in 2010 World Series odds as +275 favorites.

Last year the Yankees went 22-12 when Sabathia started for them. Sabathia did well against the Red Sox last year with a record of 3-1 and a 2.22 earned run average. Last year Sabathia, in his first season

Mlb Tickets – 2010 American League Predictions

Here is how I predict things will shape up in the American League in 2010.

East Champion – New York Yankees: The reigning champs return as the favorites in the AL East after a solid offseason.  The Yanks spent like crazy two offseasons ago, but were more fiscally responsible in 2010, landing players via trade and smaller free agent signings.  Curtis Granderson was a nice addition to the lineup and outfield, while Javier Vasquez could end up being the best third starter in the majors this season.  Andy Pettitte will give the rotation some stability and the Yanks have major upside in Phil Hughes.  With a stacked lineup, a top-tier starting rotation and a good bullpen, there’s no reason to think they won’t win the division.  MLB tickets tickets to see the Bronx Bombers should be as popular as ever in 2010.

Central Champion – Minnesota Twins: I don’t think the Twins will need a one-game playoff to win the division this season.  They locked up

Watch Boston Red Sox Mlb Games Online

I highly recommend attending a game at Boston’s Fenway Park if you ever get a chance to visit. The next best thing is to watch Boston Red Sox MLB games online. Yes sir, I watch all the action on my computer.

You could watch the Sox on your PC, too.

That way you’d get to watch games between Sox arch enemy and division rival New York Yankees. These teams have legendary match-ups every year where Sox stars like Dustin Pedroia and Mike Lowell but bat to ball battling the Bronx Bombers. Since it is the Al, you can watch veteran Red Sox great David Ortiz step to the plate as the team’s DH to work a little hitting magic in a clutch situation. Pitchers Josh Becket and Paul Byrd fire fastballs past unsuspecting opponent batters who can but shrug a head and shoulder heading back to the dugout.

I get to watch all the Boston Red Sox televised games once I discovered this great software – Satellite TV for PC – that I easily downloaded,
